Advertising - Digital vs. Print

I was talking with a group of marketers the other day and we were just comparing the media spending on print vs. web for our clients. It was amazing to us that more clients were not taking advantage of this very cost effective form of marketing, the web.

However, we could have been wrong, in a recent release from Advertising Age, Digital ad rate purchases continue to climb, while print is staying pretty steady or actually even slipping a bit. In just the last year alone, the average growth of digital purchases doubled. However, with that being said, online ad placements are still way behind in total ad dollars committed. For example, only 7 percent of Time Inc.s 2007 ad revenue was from online ad sales.

So it looks like magazines are still going to be around for a little while. However it will be interesting where they are going to be in ten years. I guess only time will tell. Until then, if you are not on the web and have not looked into devoting at least some of your marketing dollars to website advertising. I think you just might be missing the boat. Happy surfing.
