Back from IBS

Well I'm finally back at it. After a much needed vacation over the holidays, I'm back and ready to roll. Which is literally what I just got back from doing, down in Vegas, at the International Builder Show. The dice weren't as hot as I would have liked, but the show was just what I needed to get back in gear.

Once again IBS was a great venue for getting a pulse on the market, checking out new products and hearing from some of the greatest experts in the industry. The mood was up beat and message was stick with the basics. It was echoed by many different speakers, to "Work smarter, not harder" and "stay true to your course". I can honestly say I didn't think the show would have a good turn out with the economy where it is at, but I was proved very wrong. Not only was there a great showing by the vendors, but the actual attendance was good.

It is refreshing that builders are actually looking to better their businesses these days. They are finding new ways to differenciate and build brand equity in this challenging time, instead of digging in their heals and just continue doing what they always have done. It is a time when showing your strengths and capatalizing on them, will pay off. If your clients do not know what you do differently from your competitor, they are not going to seek you out. You must let them know how and why your company is unique and what are the benefits of going with your firm over another. If there has ever been a perfect time to build your brand, it is NOW!
